Many people have difficulty spelling the author’s
name, but 13-year-old Sameer Mishra got it right:
“g-u-e-r-d-o-n.” Guerdon means “financial reward” and it was the winning
word at the 2008 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Guerdon Ely, MBA, CFP®, AIFA® has over 25 years of experience in financial and investment counseling. He is the creator and developer of two highly regarded retirement distribution software programs, MRD-Determinator and Pre-Determinator, which have been reviewed in MorningstarAdvisor.Com, Investment Advisor, Accounting Today, and WebCPA. He also is the founder of Ely Prudent Portfolios, LLC, an investment advisory firm.
Mr. Ely received a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University, Chico after graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in Economics. He is a Certified Financial Planner™, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst™, and a Chartered Financial Consultant®.
Mr. Ely has taught courses for the California Continuing Education of the Bar and other professional organizations. He has contributed to educational materials used at American Law Institute-American Bar Association programs, at the Notre Dame Tax Institute, and the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning.
